August Gourmet Club: Celebrate the birthdays of Chef D and Julia Child

Chef Daniel Orr’s birthday is this month! To celebrate, he wants to cook for you with dishes inspired by one his mentors (who just so happens to share the birthday week). Join us for a very special Gourmet Club of Julia Child fare on Thursday, August 24 at 6:30 pm. Did you know that’s her birthday?

Chefs Julia Child and Daniel Orr share more than French food mastery. Both Leos, they were born one day apart. This month, Chef Daniel Orr celebrates his birthday by honoring the legacy of Julia Child on hers. Join FARMbloomington Restaurant for a very special Gourmet Club on August 24.

“When I was younger, Julia and I were pen pals. We shared recipes and thoughts on French cuisine. Because of our birthdays, I felt like we had a special relationship. She was one of my first mentors,” Shares Chef D. “For our birthdays, I’m preparing and serving my favorite dishes inspired by her. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate.”

For the meal, FARMbloomington turns into a pop up restaurant with a themed, one-night-only menu. Popular past Gourmet Club meals include collaborations with the Indiana Hemp Industries Association (420 Dinner) and the Burns Supper. Inspired by his childhood love of his parents’ cookbook club meals, he creates a new menu for each month.
