Starting Your New Year with Locally Grown FARM Meals

We at FARM Bloomington can’t stress the benefits of serving locally grown food to bring in the new year. Here’s some of the menu and communities we support.

Start with Foraging

Chef Daniel Orr is no stranger to foraging. “Mushrooms are always a fun one to forage for, and I’m a certified mushroom hunter, but love day lilies, wild garlic mustard, chickweed, wild garlic and onions, red buds and dandelions,” he says.

Here Are the Places to Shop Local:

  • A beloved tradition in the neighborhood is the Bloomington Community Farmers' Market. Fresh fruits and vegetables, local dairy goods like milk, yogurt, and cheese, eggs, and fresh or frozen meats including lamb, cattle, hog, and chicken are all available for purchase. Additionally, locally produced vinegar, relish, honey, maple syrup, salsa, jam, and jelly are available.
  • The Ellettsville Farmers' Market hosts food trucks, fundraisers, and non-profit community organizations in addition to selling a range of fresh vegetables, eggs, honey, and baked goods.
  • In order to enable our BIPOC community members to purchase, sell, and distribute locally produced goods, the People's Cooperative Market is a cooperative coalition of artisans and activists led by women who provide their time, money, and resources.
  • Visit the Tuesday Market. Another chance to stock up on your favorite local goods and farm-grown food is the Tuesday Market, a scaled-down, weekday version of the Bloomington Community Farmers' Market.
